The message does't go as you select canned responsed. In fact, the canned response is just inserted in current mail body at cursor location.

I currently have "formated" signatures in gmail.
To do so:
1- Activate gmail Labs
2- Go to labs and activate "Canned Responses"
3- You can now define as many richtext signature as you like. They can also include pictures! Everything you can include in email body can be used in your signature.
